Ryan Cole Homes, an award winning luxury home builder with a strong focus on  sustainable home designs, sought an environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing paving solution for a new display home in Perth. Ryan Cole Homes prioritises Australian made products and works exclusively with suppliers whose products make a legitimate, sustainable contribution to the environment.

Identifying GEOHEX™ as a great fit with their design philosophy, Ryan Cole Homes reached out to GEOHEX™ to supply the permeable paving system for their newest display home. As well as an environmentally friendly, Australian made solution, the customer also required a paving solution that could double as a high-end architectural feature in place of the standard products typically used in off the plan homes. The customer required a surface stabilisation solution that offered superb drainage due to the fact that the home covered most of a relatively small but premium block of land. Surrounding it with traditional pavers – or any other non-porous product – would have led to issues with water drainage.

The GEOHEX™ Erosion Control System delivered on all requirements for Ryan Coles Homes. Approximately 40sqm of GEOHEX™ was laid down both sides and the rear of the display home, with White Quartz used as infill material. Being permeable, GEOHEX™ eliminated potential drainage issues, and the fact that the product is manufactured in Australia using recycled and fully recyclable plastic, made it a much greener solution than bricks, pavers and concrete, all of which carry a significant carbon footprint. And the requirement for ongoing watering in Western Australia’s arid climate, combined with frequent fertilising, rendered grass a far less environmentally friendly long-term choice. By choosing the GEOHEX™ Erosion Control System, Ryan Cole Homes also eliminated the need for frequent mowing, edging and maintenance. The hexagonal design of GEOHEX™ combined with the White Quartz infill also created a unique architectural aspect that perfectly matched with the aesthetics of Ryan Cole Homes’ new display home.

Designed and manufactured in Australia to ISO9001:2014 standards and made from high impact resistant 100% recycled post consumer plastics, the GEOHEX™ Erosion Control System is the ideal solution for residential landscaping applications where a porous solution is required. GEOHEX™ offers superb drainage, structure and stability, and a pleasing, decorative finish.
