Project Overview
Magnetic Glamping is an off-grid accommodation provider situated on Magnetic Island in North Queensland—a location known for its intense tropical rainfall. The client needed a ground stabilisation solution for vehicle access and parking areas that could withstand severe weather and ongoing surface water flow from neighbouring properties.
The Challenge
In early 2025, the site experienced more than 2.5 metres of rainfall in two weeks. Torrential runoff from adjacent land and council infrastructure flowed across the property, threatening to erode access areas and compromise the surface.
The Solution
GEOHEX was installed in the car park and driveway to reinforce the ground, minimise erosion, and provide a stable, trafficable surface year-round. Its modular, high-compression design offered the durability needed for extreme weather conditions.
Results
Following the heavy rain event, the GEOHEX system remained firmly in place with no visible erosion or displacement. The stabilised areas required only minor topping up—confirming the system’s reliability in harsh environments.
Client Feedback
“We’ve had 2.5 metres of rain and it all stayed in place—just needs a top-up now. It’s truly amazing.”
