A residential homeowner in Sydney’s northwest was seeking a cost-effective, easy to install and aesthetically pleasing driveway surface to replace their existing, unsealed driveway.

The existing driveway covered a large portion of the property, running the length of the block down one side to a large open area and garage. Given this, the customer sought a non-concrete, non-asphalt based product for the driveway to ensure a decorative natural look was retained at the property. However, an aesthetic solution had to be balanced against practical necessities such as stability and erosion control. Price was also a key factor due to the extensive area that needed to be addressed.

The customer chose the GEOHEX™ Erosion Control System for this project because it provided a functional, low cost and decorative solution that ticked all the required boxes. Crusher dust was used as the base, with decorative Cowra Gold chosen as the fill.

Designed and manufactured in Australia to ISO9001:2014 standards, GEOHEX™ is made from high impact resistant, 100% recycled co-polymer polypropylene. Providing stability and erosion control in residential driveway applications due to its porous nature, GEOHEX™ also delivers a natural look that complements the surrounding landscape.

Another key benefit of the GEOHEX™ Erosion Control System is that it is simple and easy to install in any weather. Meaning homeowners can often conduct the install themselves as a DIY project, saving on labour costs as a result.
