Patrick Wong, a consultant at PWK Geosolutions, had an issue with his backyard swimming pool that was no longer in use and a hassle to maintain. Drawing on his professional engineering training, Patrick devised a plan to install a large rainwater tank in the pool and effectively fill it in. He went ahead with the project and covered the tank with approximately 400mm of gravel to still allow for water infiltration. He had planned to use this new area to practice Tai Chi but found the gravel was too unstable and sank quite easily, so he needed a more stable solution.

Patrick researched a number of potential solutions to solve his unstable gravel problem. He looked at several products and found that the unique design of the GEOHEX™ Erosion Control System would provide a solution to his problem.

After contacting the GEOHEX™ team to discuss his requirements, Patrick was able to complete the installation himself, and found it easy to assemble and cut the pavers to their required size. Patrick filled the GEOHEX™ system with coloured gravel in the shape of a yin yang symbol (much to the delight of his Tai Chi class) to seal up the former swimming pool and make the ground level.

With its unique honeycomb cell structure, the GEOHEX™ Erosion Control System is designed to provide strong ground reinforcement and sediment control in all conditions. Combined with grass, gravel or a sand/soil mix, GEOHEX™ can work with the natural landscape and complement surrounding materials or architecture.
